31/10: New babies!

The convict cichlid pair finally had a successful batch of babies. As of now, the babies are still swimming around the parents.

The male cichlid is hovering in front of the camera nervously, probably trying to protect his babies.

The female cichlid pops her head out occasionally to check what's happening.

There are many more babies inside the cave.

Today, I checked the container and realized that the eggs are gone! The mother probably ate the eggs. Sigh! I guess I'll have to wait for the next batch of eggs, if any.

Yesterday evening, I noticed that my female convict cichlid was constantly hanging inside a container. Upon closer inspection, I realized that she had laid about a hundred eggs inside! I'm now looking forward to them hatching.

I was shocked last night when I went home and saw that my favorite betta died! He was doing fine yesterday morning. After trying for a while to figure out how he died, he was unceremoniously sent off, or rather, sent down the toilet bowl.

Well, at least he sired 4 bettas. One of them is turning out to be a beauty. I'll post some photos when I get a chance.

I recently got a batch of killifish eggs from the Internet. The eggs came in a bag of peat moss and its almost dry. And they were sent to me in an envelope! These eggs are really cool. The eggs are from the species Nothobranchius Rachovii.
